Rosh Hashana Services - 5786

Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year and the anniversary of the creation of humanity. At this special time, we evaluate the year past and prepare ourselves for the year ahead. We invite you to celebrate the High Holiday season with us.

At Chabad, it doesn’t matter what your background or beliefs are. It doesn’t matter how often you’ve stepped foot in a synagogue—or even if never at all. We’ll take great strides to ensure your High Holidays are meaningful, inspiring, and filled with joy.

We take joy seriously at Chabad. It’s at the heart of everything we do. We worship with joy. We kibbitz with joy. Even the price of admission will put a smile on your face. It’s free.

This year, especially, as many of us are searching for more meaning and connection, we’d love for you to join us. Together, we’ll share the joy and spiritual wisdom that has inspired and empowered Jews of all backgrounds and beliefs for thousands of years.

Just click the button below to register now, and you’ll be sitting pretty—in any seat in the house.

Shofar @ The Lake

Join Chabad of Hall County for a meaningful and memorable Rosh Hashanah experience. Whether you have young children, can't make it to morning services, or are just looking for a powerful way to celebrate, this event is perfect for you.

We invite you to connect with centuries of tradition in the beautiful and serene setting of Longwood Park. The lakeside location offers a tranquil backdrop for an uplifting community gathering.

What to Expect

Shofar Blowing: The central mitzvah of Rosh Hashanah is to hear the ancient and soulful sound of the shofar. As we stand by the water's edge, its call is a spiritual wake-up call, a moment of reflection, and a call to renewal. This is a powerful, 15-minute service that is great for all ages.

Tashlich: Following the shofar, we'll perform the prayer of Tashlich. This beautiful ritual, traditionally done near a body of water, is a moment to symbolically "cast away" past mistakes and shortcomings and commit to a fresh start. The quiet, reflective atmosphere by the lake provides the perfect setting for this meaningful tradition.

Event Details

  • Date: Tuesday, September 23

  • Time: 6:00 PM

  • Location: Longwood Park, 20 Pearl Nix Pkwy, Gainesville, GA 30501

  • Meeting Point: We will be meeting near the kayak rental.

This short, uplifting program is free and open to everyone in the community. Bring your family and friends to experience the beauty of Rosh Hashanah together.

Please RSVP and find more information at JewishHall.com/High or by emailing info@JewishHall.com.

We look forward to celebrating a sweet new year with you!

Yom Kippur In Brief

What: the Yom Kippur fast day is the holiest day of the year, when we are closest to G‑d and to the essence of our souls. Yom Kippur means “Day of Atonement,” as the verse states, “For on this day He will forgive you, to purify you, that you be cleansed from all your sins before G‑d.”

When: The 10th day of Tishrei, coming on the heels of Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year, which is on the first and second days of Tishrei).

How: For nearly 26 hours we “afflict our souls”: we abstain from food and drink, do not wash or apply lotions or creams, do not wear leather footwear, and abstain from marital relations. Instead, we spend the day in synagogue, praying for forgiveness.

At Chabad, it doesn’t matter what your background or beliefs are. It doesn’t matter how often you’ve stepped foot in a synagogue—or even if never at all. We’ll take great strides to ensure your High Holidays are meaningful, inspiring, and filled with joy.

Life is busy. What connects it all?

Are you disconnected? We invite you to join us for a six-session course that will help you find clarity and purpose in your life.

Taught by Rabbi Nechemia Gurevitz, this course will explore Judaism’s timeless approach to finding meaning. You'll hear answers to some of life's most fundamental questions: What is meaning? Where does it come from? And if we have it all, why do we still seek more?

Through engaging discussions and practical tools, you'll learn to see the meaning in your daily routines, relationships, and the natural rhythms of life. Discover the purpose in what you’ve achieved and in what lies ahead. No previous Jewish learning is required to participate.

This course also satisfies continuing education requirements for physicians, healthcare professionals, psychologists, social workers, LMFTs, and LMHC/LPCs in most states. For a full accreditation statement, visit myjli.com/continuingeducation.
